How to Verify the Manufacturer Identification Code for an EU-Bound RIB
A cautious buyer guide to the manufacturer identifier used in watercraft identification and the legal responsibility behind the boat, marking and documents.
A manufacturer identification code is part of the watercraft identity system; it is not a generic “CE number” and does not by itself prove that a boat is compliant. Before an EU-bound RIB is marked or documented, the project should confirm the responsible legal manufacturer, the identifier assigned or accepted for that manufacturer, the relationship between the brand and factory, the applicable RCD route, the WIN/HIN or CIN construction, the builder’s plate, the EU Declaration of Conformity and the importer or other EU economic operator responsibilities.
