How Buyers Should Review a RIB Traceability Pack
A practical framework for connecting the approved design, materials, inspection gates, individual boat identity and shipment records without exposing unrelated customer or manufacturing IP.
A useful RIB traceability pack should connect the approved model and configuration to the material lots, production date, inspection results, serial or WIN/HIN reference where applicable, non-conformance and corrective-action records, final packing check and shipment release. A master technical file can prove the design basis; a boat-level record should show that the delivered boat was built against that controlled basis.

The records a buyer should expect to connect
The exact record names vary by project and market. The important point is continuity, ownership, revision control and retrieval.
Approved specification
Model, configuration revision, dimensions, materials, equipment, artwork, packaging and applicable market assumptions.
Material batch records
PVC or CSM fabric, aluminum, fiberglass, resin, adhesives, valves, hardware and other controlled inputs linked to incoming inspection.
Process records
Hull fabrication, tube welding or bonding, lamination, assembly, torque, installation and in-process inspection records.
Test records
Pressure, air-retention, dimensional, load, structural or other relevant results with method, date, acceptance criteria and inspector.
Non-conformance records
Held items, root-cause review, approved rework or replacement, corrective action and independent re-inspection before release.
Release and shipment
Final inspection, serial or batch mapping, packing-list check, container or shipment references and release authorization.

Questions about RIB traceability evidence
Does traceability require sharing every supplier name and internal record?+
No. Buyers can review relevant evidence or anonymized samples while confidential supplier, formula, design and customer information remains controlled. The goal is to demonstrate linkage and retrieval.
What is the difference between a master file and a boat-level pack?+
The master file describes the design and compliance basis for a model or type. The boat-level pack shows how a particular delivered boat or batch was built, inspected, released and packed against that basis.
How should reworked boats appear in the records?+
The affected boat should remain identifiable, with the non-conformance, approved rework or replacement instruction, re-inspection result and release decision recorded. Rework should not erase the original history.
Can a buyer request a sample dossier before ordering?+
A factory may provide an anonymized or redacted example and explain the fields available for an actual project. The final record set is agreed by order scope, market and confidentiality requirements.
